PDF files saving as 00 document

We save our PDF files all the same way.  Recently, some of them at random appear to be saving as a .00 file as opposed to a .pdf file.  We then cannot open the document.  We can't work out why this is happening and cannot see an answer on any other thread.  Is it just us? Any help would be amazing please.

Hi @Abigail26859098w1wc

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

Please go through the correct answer marked in the similar discussion https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/why-are-my-files-being-saved-as-a-23-file/td-p/14... and see if that works.

Hi Amal,

Thanks for your reply.  I did that and it now saving as an .07 file instead, so I still have the same issue but it is saving as a different number.  Why is it doing this in the first place?  Surely when the file is requested to be saved as PDF, it should save as a PDF? It's so confusing.

Hi there

We are sorry to hear that.

Please remove the application using the Acrobat cleaner tool https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html, reboot the computer and reinstall the application using the direct link https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html and see if that works.
