PDF Form Dropdown information not visible

I am having an issue with a PDF form we send externally for people to complete, where specifically information in the dropdown boxes appears as the default option ONLY within adobe acrobat reader (pro and non pro versions).

When viewing a preview in any other pdf reader e.g. edge browser, the dropdown information is there visible and filled out.

I have seen this issue on other very old threads which have no resolution (https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-reader-discussions/drop-downs-answers-disappearing-in-dc-read...

is there anyone that knows the solution here?

In which app is it filled out?  That's the main issue.  Many non-Adobe PDF viewers do not fill in form fields correct, and in fact many viewers  corrupt the internal structure of the PDF.

Many non-Adobe PDF viewers are sub-par and have a lot of issues when it comes to form fields.

There's really nothing we can about that. You should instruct your users to open the file in Adobe Reader if they want it to work properly.

Hi, the form is being opened in adobe reader - the official adobe pdf app is the only viewer which does not work, every other viewer shows the answers correctly filled out

Just to add to this, this is at the point where the form has been completely filled out and is returned to us
