PDF ghost image issue

New Here ,
May 08, 2024 May 08, 2024

Hello, so one of our users uses the drag and drop feature within "organize pages" and occaisonally it will create this ghost image when dragging a singular pdf. Seems like the only way to fix the issue is to  shut down the computer.Made sure latest acrobat updates are installed. Any ideas? The user is on a Dell Optiplex 7090 â€ƒrunning windows 10

The ghost image is not part of the PDF? It's what gets displayed when you drag and drop a page from one Acrobat to a second?

Do you remind having seen that PDF, maybe on prior operations? I suspect a ghost image still in the display card's memory.

Hello Anthony!

I hope you are doing well.

Is it happening with all the PDFs, or is it with one specific PDF? I assume you are on the latest version of Acrobat 25.001.2043x Optional update, installed on March 19, 2025. Try checking for any duplicate form fields, as Ghost images may appear due to overlapping or duplicate form fields within the PDF.

Identify and Remove Duplicates: Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat. Navigate to Tools > Prepare Form to highlight all form fields. Look for any overlapping or unintended duplicate fields. Select and delete any unnecessary duplicate fields.

Print Using the 'Print As Image' Option: If ghost images appear during printing, this method can help. Print as Image: In the Print dialog box, click on Advanced. Check the Print As Image option. Proceed to print the document.

Adjust Transparency and Flattening Settings: Transparency settings can sometimes cause visual artefacts in PDFs. Modify Transparency Flattener Presets: In Adobe InDesign, go to Edit > Transparency Flattener Presets. Create a new preset or edit an existing one, ensuring that the raster/vector balance is adjusted to suit your document's needs. Export the document to PDF using this preset. For detailed information, see this article: https://adobe.ly/4ldsrs9

Clear Display Card Memory: If the issue persists, try clearing the display card's memory or updating the display card drivers.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
