New Here ,
Jan 04, 2023 Jan 04, 2023

Hi @JanPSeume

Thanks for reaching out.

Since you have already set Acrobat Pro as the default PDF viewer, the pdf is still shown within the SAP GUI.

To display the generated PDF as a preview in Adobe Acrobat Pro itself rather than SAP GUI. Please try the following:

  • Open Acrobat Edit -> Preferences -> Internet -> check all the options.
  • If this doesn't work, you probably need to make changes in the SAP GUI setting itself.

Thanks,

Akanchha

Hello,

The issue described here refers to PDFs opening inside the SAP Document Viewer instead of Adobe Acrobat. This is typically controlled by SAP settings rather than Acrobat itself. However, you can try the following methods to disable it:

Disclaimer: I am not an expert in SAP you may consult your IT admin or SAP support.

1. Change SAP Document Viewer Settings (Recommended)

If SAP is forcing PDFs to open in its built-in viewer, try changing this setting:

1. Open SAP GUI and go to Options.

2. Navigate to Interaction Design > Visualization 1.

3. Look for an option like “Use external viewer for PDF files” and enable it.

4. Save changes and restart SAP.

5. Now, PDFs should open in Adobe Acrobat instead of SAP’s internal viewer.

2. Change Default PDF Viewer in Windows

SAP may be relying on Windows’ default PDF viewer. To ensure PDFs open in Acrobat:

1. Right-click a PDF file.

2. Select Open With > Choose another app.

3. Choose Adobe Acrobat and check “Always use this app”.

3. Modify SAP GUI Registry (For IT Admins)

If SAP settings do not allow external viewers, you might need to adjust Windows Registry settings:

1. Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe).

2. Navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\SAP\SAPGUIFront\PDFViewer

3. Look for an entry related to SAP PDF Viewer and disable it (if possible).

Note: Be cautious when editing the registry—only IT admins should attempt this.

4. Disable SAP PDF Viewer via SAP Configuration

If your organization allows SAP Basis customization, an SAP administrator can disable the built-in PDF viewer by modifying system configurations. This varies by SAP version, so check with SAP support.

Final Thoughts

Let me know if you have further questions.
