I export maps into pdf file format from a program, place them into a shared windows explorer file location which is then uploaded to a website through our website's template user interface of my colleague (they handle website uploads).
Upon clicking the map on our public facing website it asks what program we want it to open with; it should auto open into adobe reader.
I discovered the original non-working files that are used for the website upload are named- "Name_1" without the .pdf file extension. I can open them on my computer, no further prompt for which program to open the file. It appears that through our file uploading (not the public website) interface the maps are being assigned this name (Name_1) because there is a file from previous upload logs with the same name but it is not overwriting the old file (not sure this is relevant but want to provide all info available).
My colleague states we never had to delete these files in the past.
These pdfs also do not have the ".pdf" in the windows file explorer but open fine.
Adding .pdf-Looking in the windows file explorer I have tried adding .pdf which then leads the file to read as "Name.pdf.pdf", which I subsequently remove.
Removing the spaces in the name, example- (Name Name) also add the .pdf (NameName.pdf), which I do not want as we have had our files named normally and for easy reading in the past with no issue.
Is this caused by the way I export (shouldn't be, I can open these pdfs on my computer and my colleague can on theirs) to pdf (mxd/map layout to pdf)?
Could it be that the old file not being overwritten or deleted causes the new file to be assigned the "Name_1" which then eliminates the file extension (no deletions methods done before me)? I would love to solve and move on from such a seemingly small yet big issue.
