PDF opening in windowed mode

New Here ,
Jun 06, 2025 Jun 06, 2025

Hello everyone,

I've been using the Acrobat feature that allows PDFs to open in a new window instead of a new tab. However, whenever I open a second PDF, it always opens in windowed mode rather than maximized, regardless of how the previous window was displayed.

I've tried several solutions, including reinstalling the software, but the issue persists. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you!

Hi @howrangmichima,

Hope you are doing well. Thanks for writing about working on separate windows in Acrobat.

If you need all your documents to always open in maximized states, you can try the steps below:

1. Go to Start > Registry Editor > go to location "HKCU\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\SDI"

2. Create the below Dwords:

(I) bLastExitNormal - Value 1

(II) bMaximizeNextDocument - Value 1

(III) bNullDocMaximized - Value 1

Note: Please ensure Acrobat is closed while you change these registry values.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Souvik.
