This has happened a few times in last week. I open a pdf in Acrobat, it shows open in the tool bar, but I cannot get the window to open to read it. If I open another pdf it does open the window of the 2nd pdf and its readable, but the first one cannot be seen. There is no way to get that window to open. Thanks.

Hi Harlan,
As the issue occurs intermittently, please try once to repair the application installation.
Also, make sure that the application is updated to the latest version available.
Launch the application and go to Help > Repair Installation or Check for updates.
Check if that helps.

After assuring the program has been repaired. Hold the Alt key down and toggle the Tab key until the desired screen is displayed. Release both keys. May help to release on another screen prior to the PDF.

The same thing happening on a fresh install of acrobat on a brand new computer. Even did the repair anyway and still the same. For example, acrobat is open with no pdfs shown (view recent files opened). The taskbar still has 10 pdfs acrobat icons which are the previously opened files. The only way to remove the taskbar icons is by completely closing acrobat app. This is crazy and completely annoying. Wonder if this is due to the Adobe cloud feature on Acrobat.

Another explanation of the problem: Open pdfs in acrobat and it was creating a separate icon for each pdf. This was happening when multiple pdfs had its own tab within Acrobat (only 1 window for acrobat open. This is similar to select and drag pdf tab out of acrobat to create another open Acrobat app. In the old acrobat, this would create a separate icon on taskbar). The new Acrobat creates a new taskbar tab despite being open in the same Acrobat app showing multiple tabs for each pdf. Selected disabled new acrobat and reverted back to the old Acrobat. Fixed the problem.

Works great! Thanks for the help. Go to menu and click "Disable New Acrobat" it will go back to the old format which will work perfectly. Seems like a bug with the new acrobat.
