Can you select and copy text? Can you share a sample file?

Hi, If I don't quite understand what's going on, buy a font, install it on your computer, and then it doesn't look right in Acrobat? Or when editing doesn't allow it?- Greetings,

We have installed a new font in word.
I have Adobe Pro and creating a new PDF with all the usual functionality and this new font works fine on my machine.
Other people in the company do not have Adobe Pro and (we think) the new font doesn't let the full functionality of Adobe work in the newly created PDF.
Any ideas?

How did you make the PDF?

I'm assuming that the original source document is MS Word, there are 4 ways to make a PDF:

  1. Use Adobe's plug-in to export PDFs from MS Office, called PDF Maker. It what you see in the Acrobat Ribbon in Word.
  2. Use File / Save As Adobe PDF from the file menu.
  3. Use File / Save As / PDF from the file menu. This is Microsoft's built-in export utility.
  4. Print to File, File / Print / Adobe PDF.  This is the worst method to use because it doesn't produce live text and often doesn't view well enough. Don't use this method.

OK, let's try this another way ...

Choose one of these 2 options:

  1. Re-export a new PDF, this time choosing the option to embed the font into the PDF.
    Or...
  2. Install the new font on every computer that will open and view the PDF.

There is an outside chance that the new font you purchased can't be embedded into PDFs. Font manufacturers set whether to give the buyer embedding rights or to protect the font. Look at the EULA (end user licensing agreement) to determine if it can be embedded into digital media files, like PDFs.

You cannot "install a new font in Word".

A font is installed in the computer's OS and is available to all software.

Two times you have said "the new font doesn't let the full functionality of Adobe work in the newly created PDF." This does not help. Details are important. And a sample. We asked for a sample file. Please don't just repeat unhelpful replies.

We have purchased the following fonts that we use in word:
Altivo light
Altivo medium
Altivo regular

When we create a PDF the text is seen as a picture and not as text therefore not searchable like a normal PDF. Please see attached, does this help?
