Polygon Line Properties in measuring

Community Beginner ,
Jan 24, 2019 Jan 24, 2019

I'd like to set the polygon line properties to have none for start and end, instead of the default open arrow. I have tried to change the properties and checked "make properties default", but the next measurement has the open arrows at the beginning and end again. I've also changed the measurement (2D) preferences "default line ending" to none but that hasn't made any difference.

Using Adobe Acrobat Standard DC, Continuous Release Ver. 2019.010.20069

Windows 10 Pro Ver. 1809, build 17763.253

Any help is appreciated.

TIA,

Kevin

Hi @jeffrey_7364,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the delay.

Current Functionality:

In Adobe Acrobat, the Measuring tool’s Polygon Line is designed primarily for visual estimation rather than detailed engineering precision. As of now:

  • Each segment is measured individually during drawing, but there is no property dialog to edit or numerically adjust individual line segments or angles after placement.

  • The measurement values shown are based on the current document scale and are stored as annotation metadata, but not as modifiable geometric properties.

Workarounds:

  • Alternatively, use Acrobat’s single-line measurement tool for precise linear values one segment at a time.

Feature Insight:

We understand this could be useful for architecture, construction, or technical reviews. If you’d like to see this improved, we encourage you to submit feedback via Help > Send Feedback in Acrobat—our product teams monitor these closely.

Yes, I use it for basic estimation (doesn't have to be exact), but it still looks terrible when the lines have giant arrowheads at the ends. It should be able to follow the same default condition as a single line. Not sure why that is an issue regardless of measurement accuracy. Thanks

Thank you for following up. You’re absolutely right—while the Polygon Line tool is often used for quick estimation, the appearance of those lines (especially arrowheads) should still offer a cleaner, consistent look.

If visual clarity is important:

  • You could use the Single Line tool repeatedly for each segment (though admittedly less convenient).

  • Alternatively, after drawing the polygon, you can right-click > Properties, and change the line end style to “None” (if available).

  • If that option is missing, it may be a UI inconsistency worth reporting as a feature request.

Your feedback is very valid, and we encourage you to submit this directly through Acrobat User Voice: https://acrobat.uservoice.com/forums/590923-acrobat-for-windows-and-mac. The team regularly reviews usability suggestions, especially for markup and measurement workflows.
