If you are below Mac Sonoma, when you say you unchecked Print as Image, did it still show as Custom at top left? If so, reset to Acrobat Default and see if that changes anything.
However, if you are at Mac Sonoma or above, Apple removed a component that was necessary to allow poster printing, so it is no longer available.

Yup. Apple (not Adobe) removed a necessary component (PSNormalizer, which handled Postscript code) from the System in OS's newer than Ventura, so poster printing is no longer available to non-Postscript printers in Sonoma and Sequoia.
What program did you use to create the PDF?

Hi @philip_dominic_2055 are you using Acrobat reader or Acrobat DC? In Reader we have disabled the Advanced options from MacOS 13.5 and abobe. In Acrobat DC you would be able to access these options.
Thanks

Hi Sanjeeb. So grateful for your suggestion and response. Not sure what Adobe DC is so I'll investigate and try out. Thanks very much. X Philip.

Yeah, this is not the same as tiling a poster. It's printing only the one page you would get relative to the top left corner. (conversely. when you select Auto (normally) it centers it on the printable area).
Do you have either InDesign or Illustrator? If so, you can Place your PDF on a new document of the size you want and use their print tiling functions.

Thanks to all of you find persons for offering ideas and suggestions. I'll continue to try out them but now realise that Apple are the culprits. Xxx thanks once again x Philip.
