If you are below Mac Sonoma, when you say you unchecked Print as Image, did it still show as Custom at top left? If so, reset to Acrobat Default and see if that changes anything.

However, if you are at Mac Sonoma or above, Apple removed a component that was necessary to allow poster printing, so it is no longer available.

Hi Brad. Thanks for your response.  I can't see any 'Custom' facility when unchecked.

I'm probably being thick, but 'am so frustrated with this glitch.  xxx Philip

Hi @philip_dominic_2055

Sorry for the troubled experience. Could you check if this issue is reproducible with other files and let us know?

Ensure your copy of Acrobat is updated, to check for pending updates, launch Acrobat > Help > Check For Updates. Also, check if your printer drivers are updated.

Also, if possible please share the file in question with us.

If you can't share the file publicly, upload files to any cloud drive and share the link via private message. To send a private message, click on the envelope icon at the top right corner.

Hi Tariq

Many thanks for your response.
The issue exists for ALL files/images which I need to make posters of (eg:family trees to send to relatives).
The app is up to date.
Any help much appreciated. Regards Philip.

"I'm on version Mac Sequoia 15.4 (Not sure that's relevant but maybe!  x P"

Yup. Apple (not Adobe) removed a necessary component (PSNormalizer, which handled Postscript code) from the System in OS's newer than Ventura, so poster printing is no longer available to non-Postscript printers in Sonoma and Sequoia.

What program did you use to create the PDF?

Hi @philip_dominic_2055 are you using Acrobat reader or Acrobat DC? In Reader we have disabled the Advanced options from MacOS 13.5 and abobe. In Acrobat DC you would be able to access these options.

Thanks

Sanjeeb

Hi Sanjeeb.  So grateful for your suggestion and response. Not sure what Adobe DC is so I'll investigate and try out. Thanks very much. X Philip.

Thank you again

One was a Dorico music image and the other a Word document image (converted from the Print page to a pdf).

NEW: I’ve now found that (see screenshot below)  I can highlight (outline) PRINT, but its still greyed out, and if I choose CUSTOM, say 200%, I get this (see image) and when printed, I just get one page out of the printer , rather than the usual 4, 9 or more copies/parts to accommodate the scaling up.

We’re getting somewhere’ but it used to show the multiple pages of the poster enlargement in the right image box (Again, 4, 6, 9 parts of the final poster. etc)

Thanks again. Xxx Philip

Yeah, this is not the same as tiling a poster. It's printing only the one page you would get relative to the top left corner. (conversely. when you select Auto (normally) it centers it on the printable area).

Do you have either InDesign or Illustrator? If so, you can Place your PDF on a new document of the size you want and use their print tiling functions.
