Preflight failing at transparency flattening

Good evening,

Routine preflight to convert a PDF to pdf/x-1a compliance results in the same error "Transparency used (transparency group)", and itemizes just about every item in the PDF as a violation.

Workarounds attempted:
- Updating and ample restarting
- Reinstalling Acrobat
- Reinstalling everything Adobe
- Flattening transparencies through preflight before conversion
- Saving as an optimized PDF before preflight
- Stress crying in the fetal position

Any help is appreciated.
