I'm trying to print an A1 document on multiple A3 sheets. I have Acrobat Professional 10.1.3 on a mac. I have tried downloading pdf mate and other free programmes but nothing working as I am on a mac. I have the Adobe CS5.5 Master collection so have a lot of other programmes.

Document is pdf format. Any info is appreciated.

I assume the process is similar to Windows. You select the printer menu and use the properties on the printer. Select the page size (A3) for the print, multi-up if desire, and then go back to the print menu and select shrink to fit, then just print. May not be the cleanest way, but should work.

In Adobe Acrobat Pro, choose File> Print, Under Page Scaling choose 'Tile all pages', you can increase the overlap if you need - this is for pasting the pages together after you've printed them. Make sure your source pdf is infact A1 size, choose your output page size to A3 by clicking the page setup button at the bottom of the print dialogue window.

Same problem in 2019 and here is a fix or solution.

There isn't a one click solution that I can find.

If you have an A3 PDF (from MS Project, print to PDF in A3 for my example) and an A3 capable printer but you want to print a A1 Poster comprising four A3 sheets, this is what I did.

File -> Print

Select the correct A3 printer as output

Select A3 paper size as your output media

Click on Poster, in the paper size & handling area (adjacent to size, multiple and booklet)

The preview will show the A3 now spanning a larger area comprising two A3 pages.

Go to the TILE SCALE box, and instead of 100% put in 192 (if cut marks are unchecked), then click on something else like the overlap box or the cut marks check box (do not click on PRINT) or press TAB to move your cursor along

If you want to include cut marks then the scale is 181% for me.

Then print., you should get 4 pages. Then apply your neatest folding skills and sticky tape.

Play with portrait or landscape options as appropriate.

Thanks. It’s not the same as the original problem, which started with an a1 document, to be printed at a1, rather than an a3 document to be blown up to a1. But I hope this will help people with this new problem. Readers should also note that in the 7 years since the original post, the software has changed a lot.
