Print size increasing

New Here ,
Mar 16, 2019 Mar 16, 2019

Hello there, Can someone help me? I am new here. Our work plotter takes forever to plot files between 100kb to 600kb pdf(s)  on A1. Just found out that the size of the files have become huge in the print spooler. Is there a reason for that. I use xeros 7142 plotter.  Please find picture attached. Sorry for the snip. Its for security reasons.

Looks like you should ask that question in a Xerox forum as this is essentially what the printer driver does, when getting the print commands from Acrobat.

Edit:

There is however a possibility that also Acrobat can send over huge files that take an eternity to print: Check in the Advanced print dialog from Acrobat the “Print as image“ option is selected. That option would render the file on the machine and send only an image to the printer. And that image can be huge and the print process can slow down.

Print as image is thought to be a troubleshooter, not a permanent option.

Without having a sample of such a PDF file to examine and knowing more about what options your printer has (PostScript or not) as well as printer driver, there isn't much we can do to advise you as to what's wrong. Yes, if the “print as image” option is on, it could account for this, but if it isn't, it could be the content itself. We've recently seen some CAD output which sets transparency on for every object on large, complex pages forcing Acrobat to flatten all the contents, sometimes resulting in very large spool files of raster content and sometimes even causing Acrobat to run out of address space.

Post a sample and we can further advise …
