print to pdf with XML in osx

Hi

I have a very frustrating issue that only exists on Mac devices.

we have a simple livecycle form that uses XML - it is a daily report. When the report is completed in windows the user "prints to pdf" and now all the fields are no longer changeable.

on the Mac I cannot print or save to PDF and all the optimisation options do not work on forms with XML.

can someone please tell me what I need to do to get this to work?

much appreciated.

Jonni

AFAIK, it's not possible. You can ask here, though: LiveCycle Designer

The Adobe PDF printer doesn't work on Mac computers any more due to changes made by Apple to the OS (basically forbidding virtual printers). Your options are therefore very limited. I would suggest using a Windows machine (maybe even via Parallels) to do it.

Hi

unfortunately that is not workable in my case. Plus I would then need to use my CC license on a machine just for One form

are there really no other options. I can’t open the file in PS I tried that already.

Why do you need to do it in the first place? Just to lock the fields?

You cannot open the file in any other app. You cannot print to PDF or save to PDF on Mac.

Maybe there is JavaScript to flatten XFA forms?

yes you are correct just to lock the Fields. I tried to enable protection but I was still able to change the field entries.

I will look up the java script idea.

I found a work around to this.  Not very elegant, but I converted the XML form to Word in acrobat pro and then saved as a pdf on my Mac.
