Printing PDF from File Explorer keeps opening Adobe Pro instead of just printing using Adobe Reader

We are running Server 2016 and have a VM server that has both Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and Adobe Acrobat DC.

We have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC set as the default PDF viewer.

It use to be, Users could open up Windows File Explorer, right click on a pdf (or multipe pdfs) and choose print and the files would just print to the printer.

NOW when they try the exact same thing, it tries to open up Adobe Acrobat DC and ask for a login.

This is with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC as the default PDF viewer.

How can we prevent this from trying to use Adobe Acrobat DC to print these.

We need to have both on the server because some users have to use the full Adobe Acrobat DC version.

Hi Boston,

Sorry to hear about the trouble caused.

If we understand your issue correctly, then you were supposed to print the document through Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. However, suddenly, from Windows file explorer>File> right click> Print is opening the Acrobat Pro DC. Is that right?

We started getting a similar issue reported after the last patch was released, where Quick Print automatically opens the Acrobat or Reader in the background rather than sending the document to the printer directly.

This has already been escalated to the engineering team, who are looking for a fix on priority.

Once we have an update, we will keep you posted.

We suspect that you also have the latest version installed. Would you mind confirming the same? Open Acrobat>help>About Adobe Acrobat.

Thanks,

Akanchha

Hi,

Did this ever get resolved? We are currently experiencing the same issue as described in the OP and we're on version 2022.003.20263

Many thanks.

Dan

This is still an issue. Hows the progress with engineering?
