You hear horror stories where 'trojans' or 'malicious viruses' are on App or Play store due to third-party PDF apps. And that's why you have to use creme de la creme of PDF software! Look for an updated Firmware, Drivers, etc
I had an issue when I tried to print after updating my OS on my computer, and because of that I to reconfigure on the way how my PDFs were being viewed and communicating to the printer. But, I would maybe see if your printer is using an outdated or corrupted printer drivers can struggle to translate PDF data into printable commands.
