I have been using Adobe Acrobat DC (printer) to print AutoCAD files for the past 10 years. The quality and workability of the PDF produced is far superior than the AutoCAD built in PDF printers. What I have found in the last few AutoCAD (or is it Adobe) updates is when I crop a drawing within a viewport into an odd shape, rather than the standard square viewport, the cropped viewport/page will not print (it is either creating a huge file and eventually hangs or freezes). The larger the AutoCAD drawing the bigger the problem is. Same drawing if I have a standard viewport on one page and a cropped viewport on another, the standard viewport prints quick and easy without an issue. When I try to print the cropped viewport same drawing it eventually hangs or freezes.
Have tried Autodesk support and forums, only anwer I am getting is it is an Adobe issue and I should use the built in Autodesk PDF plotter.
Have given the same drawing to a colleague using a different CAD package (BricCAD Pro) and he has no issue printing to the Adobe Printer with cropped viewports. So it seems to be an Autodesk/Adobe compatibility.
Can anyone help or suggest anything?
