I work on the deposit desk for a trucking company. We receive remit info via email in all kinds of formats so we "print" everything to pdf. We use Acrobat version 21.xxx.xxxx. (I'm at home and dont remember all the digits. Whatever the version is on Nov 15 2021 we are up to date.) A few weeks back I noticed the print function was slowing down.
I process 200 - 300 emails per day
Here is what I do:
Ctrl-P
When the Print dialog open I just hit <enter>; We have the Microsoft Print to PDF set as default printer. (Dont recall reason; Supervisor was having problems with Adobe printer?)
As soon as I hit <enter> I start entering a file name but I DO NOT wait for the 'Save Print Output As' dialog box to open. Never have. I have done the exact same thing since early 2020, 5 days a week. When the dialog box does open whatever I have typed is populalted in the File Name box. Recently if I open a pdf file and do the above process, only part of what I have typed appears in the File Name box, usually the tail end of what I have typed. All Microsoft products continue to work as before (Word, Excel, Notepad)
So i changed slightly my process when working with pdf files in Acrobat: wait for the dialog box to open. Now when the 'Save Print Output As' opens, sometimes the cursor is in the File Name box but will not accept any input. (Sometimes it will accept spaces but no letters or numbers) Hit cancel and try printing again. Now the 'Save Print Output As' does not even open. The progress bar flies by and who knows where if at all the file is printed so I have to print again.
We have no IT support to speak of. They decided I had a slow hard drive and took my desktop to replace my hard drive and gave me a laptop I used when I worked from home during Covid Wave 2. Worked perfectly for almost 2 weeks and now acts like the desktop.
I was curious and tested my Reader on my personal laptop and it fails as well. If I cancel a print and try to print again, the Save Printout As dialog does not open, progress bar flies by but as far as I can tell no file is printed or generated.
Here is what I have tried with ACROBAT:
Repair installation. - no difference
Roll back all MS updates for last 2 weeks: - no difference
Uninstall and re-install Acrobat - no difference
Work computers are Windows 10 Pro v2Hxx (I think. would have to double check) (32bit? ACROBAT DC
Home computer Windows 11 64bit READER DC 64bit
Hope someone can help point me in the right direction.

Hi Linda,
Hope you are doing well and thank you for reaching out.
As you have mentioned above, you print to PDF from the email you receive.
Sorry as I did not understand the issue completely as mentioned above. Would you mind sharing a small video of the workflow showing how Acrobat is involved in the process and the issue you experience?
Are you printing PDF from Acrobat or the Microsoft application? It would be helpful if you can share step by step workflow.
Share version numbers for the Acrobat and other applications in use.
Let us know if you need any help with anything.
Thanks,
Meenakshi
