Problems with writing and highlighting

Please Help, I'm becoming crazy.

So when the writing is on, with the little "bar" of writing, the arrows right and left dont work anymore, because with them you just go a letter right and left. So, when I was on windows, I just put the "escape" touch and the writing bar was gone and I coud use the arrows again for going to the next page. Now I'm on a Macbook air and It doesnt work, I have everytime to click on the hand button to use the arrows. I've tried everything.. By my friends it works okay, they use the esc button and it goes like before the writing.

My other problem is that when I want the highlight button to stay on so I can justg highlight over and over, it doesnt. Like when I have highlighted once, it deactivated itself automatically. I'm getting reaaalllyyy crazy. Please help me, and I have exams tomorrow !!

What application, including exact version number, are you using?

It's Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2017.012.20093 ! I've resolve the problems of the highlighting, but not the one with the escape button 😕

Go to the app menu, then Preferences - General, and tick "Use single-key accelerators to access tools". You would then be able to switch to the Hand tool using "h".

Could be. I don't have access to a Mac so I can't say whether or not it works elsewhere... I think it should, though.
