Protecting a document

Hi,

IPlease help,  have never had problems before.  I have a new document, I password protect get the message that it is protected but when I reopen the document it is completely not protected. I select password protect enter info and get a message that it is protected, I save, close, re open the document and its not saved and password protected is not checked off.  What is wrong?

After you save and close the PDF document, do you also close Acrobat completely and restart the program?

 

Preferably, try saving, closing both the PDF document and the Acrobat program, and sign out from the current user session.
