Publisher to PDF Very High Compression / Low Resolution

When I use the "Create PDF from File" dialog for my publisher document, the image resolution in the document and the overall file size significantly decrease. I need 300 DPI images, and my images load at barely 100 DPI. I cannot export the PDF directly from publisher because it causes my transparent PNG images to have black backgrounds, so is there any way to increase the image resolution from acrobat's "Create PDF from File" dialog?

I was assuming Acrobat Std/Pro X and Office 2010 (or earlier?) but not sure without more more info.  (The reason I asked about Affinity was more to demonstrate the need of more information and clairity in the post than actually needing to know. Affinity has its own export function.)

I suspect the wrong PDF settings were used. One can:

  • Save as PDF and check the export settings. Microsoft apps have been able to make their own PDFs since version 2007.
  • Print to the Adobe PDF driver; click on the Printer Properties and check the export settings.

Microsoft Publisher or Affinity Publisher?

What are the PDF export settings you are using?

That's very interesting. No currently supported version of Acrobat supports creating PDF from Microsoft Publisher at all, either by the Create PDF from File dialog or from within Publisher.

And it certainly never has supported Affinity Publisher in any way.

The Adobe PDF driver seems to work the best for now, but for some reason, all of my shapes with shadows do not show up on the final PDF. Is there anything you would suggest to do now?

If you use PDF Creator or simailr program then you can choose the DPI setting onf the print out, in the virtual printer settings.
