Put text on top of a stamp?

I have specific stamps I must use on documents. I need to be able to put in numbers and/or letters in the center of the stamp. It cannot be automatic numbering because each page is required to be a separate document file. How do I do this? I can't get an option to put text in front or move stamp behind.

You can use a script to prompt the user to enter the number each time the stamp is applied.

Doing it after the fact will be tricky.
