Quite A Box Of Tricks plugin for Acrobat

Quite A Box Of Tricks is a plugin for older versions of Adobe Acrobat and (among other things) it offers an option to convert a PDF (completely or some pages) to grayscale. But I'm not sure which grayscale standard (profile) does this plugin use? Is it something like: Dot Gain 10%, sGray, Gray Gamma or maybe something generic?

Thanks

If you're asking that here I think you might be disappointed, I (for one) have never heard of this.

Perhaps you should direct your questions to "Quite a Box of Tricks?"

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply, gary_sc. Indeed, one should ask the authors of this plugin, but it seems to be outdated and it works on older Acrobat versions only (up to version XI Pro, I think). So it's a legacy product, a discontinued product (AFAIK).

I searched this forum and I see that this plugin has been mentioned several times, so there're people here who have used it and who can probably help me.

Thank you Jean-Clause Tremblay, I have already found their website and their email. This plugin is listed there as a 'Legacy Product', so I believed that it's no longer supported (since 2017, if I got that right).

Small correction: the latest release was in 2014.

Why not use Acrobat's built-in Convert Colors tool?

I'm not saying that this plugin gives me better results than Acrobat, just the results are different, so I wonder why it is so.

I'm just curious how these conversions work, i.e. are they always based on some standard (Dot Gain %, sGray, Gray Gamma etc.) or are they 'generic'.

I've noticed that some image editing programs offer conversion to grayscale without explaining much. Depending on the program, I even noticed that some details might get lost in the conversion.

I'm not an expert on these issues, I'm just trying to learn. So I'm experimenting with different approaches these days, which I explained in my post titled: Combination of color and grayscale content.
