"An Internal Error has occurred" will not go away

New Here ,
Feb 10, 2024 Feb 10, 2024

Let's address the issue at hand. One of our users, who utilizes Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) like everyone else in our company, is encountering a persistent Adobe error. Although our default PDF viewer is Foxit PDF (apologies to Adobe), we still retain Adobe Acrobat for certain users who need its exclusive features. The problem arises when this user attempts to open a PDF file with Foxit set as the default viewer, or with any other browser I've tried as the default (such as Edge, Chrome, Firefox), resulting in the error.. The user is currently tolerating this error message when opening PDFs, but this is not an acceptable long-term solution for me. I've exhaustively tried various fixes suggested online, which I'll outline below:

    1. Attempted to open a PDF directly with Adobe Acrobat using the 'Open With' feature.
    2. Disabled the protected mode feature at startup in Adobe Acrobat.
    3. Verified that the Adobe application folder has the appropriate access permissions.
    4. Searched for and found no residual or 'ghost' user profiles that might be causing issues.
    5. Conducted a repair installation of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
    6. Attempted to completely uninstall and reinstall Adobe Acrobat Reader, which was not possible due to our organizational policies.
