"An Internal Error Occurred"

In the past few days whenever I try to open a PDF in Illustrator, I get a pop up from Acrobat stating "An Internal Error Occurred."

So weird to have pop ups from a program that isn't even open.

I'm running the latest versions of all Creative Cloud programs on Windows 10 Pro

I uninstalled, AcroCleaner'd, and re-installed Acrobat and I'm still getting the issue.

These things Adobe software annoyances always seem to happen when you have the most work to do.

Update: It seems that the issue is related to PDF's no longer being previewed in Windows. Whenever I click on a PDF anywhere within Windows Explorer it causes the error pop up.

On Friday afternoon an "Acrobat Update Installer" started running on my machine, I didn't have time to screenshot it, but it appears things are working correctly now. I have pdf previews in Windows Explorer and no longer get the error pop up.

I hope the same happened for you.

After this last series of updates the error is back.

Any attempts to preview a PDF in windows explorer (even within an Adobe program) causes the error again.

@adobe please can we have an update on this? You've been silent on this issue since september. The solutions mentioned aren't working for everyone. It's been months. PDFs are a staple part of my day to day, and they're constantly crashing my machine, not saving, not loading, not previewing, crashing programs etc etc. Whats going on, when will this be fixed?
