I spent HOURS adding text to a PDF. Then all of sudden, almost all of the text I've added as been altered by having random letters deleted! Help! This has happend both times I've worked on the file. It starts out fine and then goes crazy. I can't figure out why this is happening or how to fix it. (I'm running a 7 day trial of the program.)
I attached a photo. Look at the top line of text where lots of letters are missing.
Try to change the text font...

Hi BeebeGrl
We are sorry for the trouble. As described, random text is being deleted from the PDF file.
Is this a behavior with a particular PDF or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If its a file specific issue please share the file with us for testing.
What is the workflow/steps you are doing to add the text to the file?
Is the file stored locally on your computer system or is it on a shared ntwork/drive? please try to download the file locally to your computer and check.
Also, please try to turn off the protected mode for testing. Go to Edit (Windows), Adobe Acrobat DC (Mac) > Preferences > Enhanced Securities > Turn off the protected mode and uncheck the enhanced security > Click OK
Note: Please turn on the security after testing.
Let us know how it goes
Regards
Amal

Thanks for you help, Amal. I have only been working within one PDF file so I don't know if would do this will all files. And it doesn't cause the problem immmediately. I edited the file for hours and then all of sudden, almost every section of text I added had deletions. So I quit for the day and started again today. This morning, the file looked as it should and I started working in it again for hours and then AGAIN, it changed everything in an instance! I tried closing the program and re-opening it. Didn't help. I checked for updates. None. I did a "repair installation" and that didn't do anything either. I also restarted my computer.
This file was saved on my Google Drive. I just moved it to my desktop. The file contains many individual PDFs that I merged into 1 file. I add text by selecting "edit PDF" and then click "add text." I usually copy text that I previously added on a different page of the PDF and then paste onto a new page. Then I usually click "edit" so I can drag the text where I want it. Sometimes I copy text from a Word doc and then paste it into the PDF. I also have been scanning pages and inserting them into the PDF. The font I'm using is Arial Narrow.
Protected mode was already off, but I unchecked enhanced security. The file still contains all the errors. 😞
How do I share the file with you? Did this work? The errors start at the very top of p. 3. file:///C:/Users/Gunter/Desktop/Magistra%20Jones%20merged%20with%20Workspace%20A.pdf

Hi there
We are sorry to hear that.
Please try with a different PDF file and check. Also, please try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Windows or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there. Also make sure you have trhe latest version 20.009.20067 installed. Go to Help > Check for Updates.
If it still doesn't work, please upload the PDF file to the document cloud https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/home/ generate the link and share it with us.

Amal

Was really hoping to find a solution. This happens to me CONSTANTLY with all kinds of different PDFs from different sources. It's always if I use the "edit" function. And it happens to any text I've added regardless if I added it in "edit" or "fill and sign." Is this a bug? Nobody else I work with seems to run into this issue.

Hi @WorkingMatt
What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.01.20093 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.
Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.
Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau...
You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.
If it still doesn't work, please remove the application using the Acrobat cleaner tool https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html , reboot the computer once and reinstall the application using the direct link

This just happened to me too. I filled out the file using the fill and sign too and it all looked great. Once I inserted a new page though, it lost 98% of the text I'd written with the exception of the letters m, g, d, and l. I tried undo, closing the program and reopening, and restarting my computer, but it's gone gone. I'm so screwed because of this. I had a lab due tonight and I wasn't able to turn it in because of this. It was 8 pages long and now I have to start over (if I can even get credit for it now). Please help! I will try anything to get that text back.

Yes, the same thing is happening to me, as well. I've performed all the troubleshooting techniques in this thread. But random content still keeps getting deleted. For now, I've just gotten used to checking EVERY single page of my 300 page document for any random deletes before I hit save.

I used JR's font change method and that worked for me. Hopefully it works for you too!
Still frustrating that in the sense of I used a font listed in Acrobat, not an imported font, and had to go through this process.

This is my problem too. Question--change the font from what to what? Anything? Are there specific fonts that are good or bad, or somehow, any change has this effect? I'm in Times New Roman. That might have changed from what I started with, but I don't remember.
