A free trial period is entirely different from renewing a paid subscription plan.
If you had a free trial, your account still exists.
Go to : https://helpx.adobe.com/manage-account/using/renew-restart-extend-membership.html
And see if it helps.
A lot of people here complain about not able to cancel their subscription after the free trial period concludes.
