Hi -eu-,

Sorry for the delay in response.

As per the issue description mentioned above, you are facing issue with read out loud option in Acrobat, is that correct?

Could you try following troubleshooting steps:

1- Check if an update is available for Acrobat using "Check for updates" option under "Help" menu,  You may also download updates from here: Adobe software and product updates

Reboot the machine after installing update and try again.

2- If that doesn't work, try resetting preferences for Acrobat using the steps given in this link: How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default. reboot the machine after resetting preferences and try again.

3- If the issue persists, please use Adobe Acrobat cleaner tool to remove the Adobe Reader and restart the machine, download the cleaner tool from Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Install the Reader back from Adobe - Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

You may also refer to the following forum threads discussing the similar issue:

Despite Adobe being a leader, it's Read Out Loud feature is very rudimentary.

I opened my PDF file in the latest Edge browser, and there's a "Read Aloud" feature. It works pretty well (but probably Microsoft is feeding its AI with your PDF document, so beware of that if it's confidential).

This could also be the result of how the document is tagged. If you look in your tags pane, is each logical paragraph structured as such?

I am using the feature on my mobile phone (Android 10) on an academic document. There seem to be no tags, but I had the same phrase read to me 2 or 3 times, while the remaining part of the paragraph was never finished.

Also, footnotes are read right after they are mentioned in the text (and I find this a good feature), but then the text reading is not continuing in the same paragraph from the footnote onwards to the end. Rather it reads a part of it and then jumps to next paragraph.

Most often, as far as I could see, it repeats phrases at the beginning of a new page (mostly text continuing from previous page) and it is also in those circumstances that it jumps over remaining text in the paragraph.

Additionally, I believe it would be nice if we could disable reading underscores and tables (like an on/off feature), since if you can't also follow visually the text, it will just be awkward to try and follow it. If possible I would rather opt for the option to have the algorithm identify the feature as a table of graph or picture and mention that I should get back to the document and check that piece of information at a later time.

Assuming, however, that one would like to visually follow the text as well, it is sad that modifying text size to make it more readable on mobile devices is not possible while in "read aloud" mode, since all other features are inaccessible in this mode (as it acts like a bouble).

I hope this helps. Looking forward for next evolutions of "read aloud".
