Red field over text

I was correcting recognised text when I suddenly discovered that there was a red field that had appeared over two words. I cannot find anyway to remove it. I have closed the OCR window and tried right clicking on the area to figure out what it is - with no success. Does anybody know why this happened and how I can remove the it?

Can you share that file with us, or just that page?

The document contains personal stuff (which isn't mine) so can't share the whole document, but attached is a single page with the issue.

I have removed it with 'Edit' tool, although it also removed yellow (old) background, if that is not the issue here is the file:

If you need that background, let me know.

Many thanks!
Unfortunately, yes, I do need the yellow background and the oldlooking greyish text (I want the page to "look original" so not pure black and white I), but can do a pure graphic correction in e.g. Photoshop. However, I am hoping to figure out why this happened in Adobe and how to undo the color changes when they occur as it is a recurring and weird problem that seems to be a bug.

Double click on the "red field" to select, using the Edit tool.

Then delete it.

Thanks!

For some reason this doesn't work for me, the red text has become permanently incorporated in the background....

Here is how to reproduce the issue with the extra red highlight:

  • Recognise text/correct recognised text
  • Click Accept to accept first recognized change (then next word is highlighted in red, with dark red frame – let’s call this word ”X”)
  • Double click on any previously accepted text (i.e. that doesn’t have a red frame)
  • Double click on red field ”X” with red frame
  • The field X now has a permanent extra red hightlight that cannot be removed
