Redacting does not remove test data from a form

I created an interactive form and tested it. I want to publish the form but I cannot remove the information that I populated in the fields as test data. If a person tabs through the fields, the test data I used shows up. Redacting does not remove the information. It populates the fields. Help please!

There is another possibility, I realise - that it's not in the form at all, but it's autocompleting.

Did you edit or fill this form in any non-Adobe software (like Apple Preview, to give an example) anywhere along the way? Unless the file is broken there are no hidden values to pop-up when you tab into a field. If you did do this, the safest thing is to go back to the backup you took before you did that.

Redaction removes visible information; it seems this broken information is not visible.

Thanks for your advice. I created the form in InDesign, converted it to a Form in Adobe Acrobat, then tested the fields in Acrobat. It worked just fine and I saved the form. I didn’t think that my test data would be saved with it and would populate fields when the form was opened again.

The form has 133 fields (it is an application form and captures names and addresses etc.) I tried redacting but it deletes everything and mars the look of the form online.

I think I have mucked this up completely!

Just export from InDesign again to make a clean form. When you fill in a form (test or live) it will save the data with it (but it should be visible on open, not on tab - this is why I wonder whether you were actually testing in Acrobat. Check that out, it will cause a lot of pain.

Yes. It could be autocompleting. Can I stop that?

I can go back to the original InDesign form and convert it to PDF. However, when I convert it to a form, the fields don’t run in consecutive order even though I say do it per ’tab’ order. Additionally, I have to go into every field and check that the properties are correct and sometimes, reorder them. Very laborious when I’m on a deadline.

The form asks questions with Yes/No responses and this is where the flow gets caught up.

Thanks for your help on this. Really appreciate another’s brain on this!

The Auto-Complete data is saved on your computer only, it's not a part of the file.

If you send it to someone else they will not see what you're seeing.

Thank you everyone! I checked the preferences and I had the 'auto complete' checked. With that unchecked, all was good with the form. Really appreciated everyone's input and I have learnt a lot. Appreciate this forum, for sure!!
