Redaction is super slow

Community Beginner ,
Jan 11, 2023 Jan 11, 2023

We have a group of people that redact documents on a regular basis. The are on the latest version of Acrobat DC Pro, Version 2022.003.20310 64bit. What can we do? Some of these redactions actually can take hours on a large document.

The new version 2023.001.21043, has fixed this problem for us. Installed manually on only one user's computer, the rest are updating via Adobe update. Problems for those I queried, have lessened dramatically. I think this solves the problem.

Talk too soon... by going to Preferences > Security (Enhanced) and unticking "Enable Protected Mode at Startup" fixes it.

Not ideal I'm sure, but at least it'll get us working.

Hi @jo90stech

Thank you for reporting this to us.

Have you started observing this issue immediately after installing the latest patch, or have you been experiencing it from the previous versions?

Please try a few troubleshooting steps and see if that makes any changes.

1- Open Acrobat>Help>Repair Installation [Windows only]

2- For testing,

Navigate to Acrobat>Edit>Preferences>Security (Enhanced)>disable  "Protected View" and "Enhanced Security">OK>close and reopen Acrobat [Windows]

Navigate to Adobe Acrobat>Preferences>Security (Enhanced)>disable and "Enhanced Security">OK>close and reopen Acrobat [Mac]

and try the redaction again.

Note: these changes are only for testing purposes. Once tested, please change it back to the previous setting.

3- Do you experience this issue with the smaller documents?

Let us know the result.

Thanks,

Akanchha

I have tried many steps including your suggestion. I opened an Enterprise support case and will post here the solution if one is found.

The same issue is happening to me. It took two hours this morning. In the meantime, you can't do anything else related to Acrobat. Please give us a solution.

I know there is no update to this post, but have you gotten/found a solution yet? I am in the same boat with a number of my users. We keep having to reinstall older versions of Acrobat - which is time consuming - We want a solution too....

Thanks!

I have not found a solution. Deleting the HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\DC key clears it for some, but not all. And it isn't permement. I've moved to testing the latest version released on the 10th. I have users testing, but no responses yet.

Great thanks for the update, I will follow up with one of my users tomorrow to see if we are seeing something similiar. Happy Adobe finally figured it out, but 4 months is a long time for an issue like this. I will post my findings tomorrow as well.

My user has tried it and it is not working correctly for them, I am having to unistall and reinstall older versions still. So I do not think it has been resolved. But that is my experience. Any update from your side.

That's unfortunate. All of my users are doing well with this version, and a few more with other strange errors.

Unfortunately we're still having this issue 😕 It seems Adobe just can't get anything right some days.

Acrobat Pro version 2023.006.20380 64-Bit (freshly installed 30 minutes ago).

Has anyone found a foolproof fix for this?
