Redaction Problem

New Here ,
Apr 24, 2018 Apr 24, 2018

This is the first document I've tried to redact, so hopefully this problem is easy to fix because I'm doing something obviously wrong:

When I type words into the search box for Redaction, it's only scanning the 1st page of a 13 page document.   It finds all the instances on the first page and redacts them perfectly, but not on the other pages.

I don't see anything that restricts the redaction to the current page, so it seems like it should apply throughout.

Thanks for any help!

Strange. What happens when you use the Find command and search for that string? Does it find all instances?

Also, what version of Acrobat do you have, and what's your OS?

It acts like it only searches the first page; I just tried it again and

there's a string at the top of the 2nd page that matches the search, but

the application is not finding it. Everything on the 1st page redacted

perfectly.

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (see screenshot) and am running it on a MacBook

with MacOS Sierra (see screenshot)

Your screenshot didn't come through. You have to use the Insert Image tool and reply via the browser, not via email.

Can you select that text with the mouse? If so, what happens when you copy and then paste it in another application, like Word?

Does it come out legible?

Looking very closely at the document, it looks like the first page is in a slightly darker format and all the other pages are grayer, like it's not part of a searchable document, even though it's all loaded and you can see it.  Here's a screenshot of the first page with redactions:

and a screenshot of another page in the document:

It might be hard to tell, but everything after the first page definitely looks more grayed-out.

The fact you can see and read it doesn't mean much. Please answer my questions from above.

I assume you can't select the text at all. That means it's a part of an image, and not real text, which is why the Redact Text and Find tools can't see it. You will need to run Text Recognition on those pages to be able to use them.

I can select text on the first page but not after that.

Let me see about the Text Recognition and I'll get back to you.

Running Text Recognition did the trick, thanks for your help.  I don't know why the software doesn't default to that, but whatever, it's working now.   Thanks for your help!
