Redactions troubleshooting

New Here ,
Oct 05, 2021 Oct 05, 2021

Acrobat Pro DC (32-bit) user. The program has been throwing me all kinds of headaches as of late, but this one takes the cake.

I'm attempting to redact a document (NOT locked and NOT signed), but every time I hit 'Apply' for my redactions, the normal box that asks to check for hidden information pops up.....only there's absolutely nothing in the box. This is literally what I see:

I can sometimes get a result by clicking around the bottom right blindly where the 'accept' button normally is, but not in some cases. Hitting escape gets me out of the box, but that doesn't help anything. The issue persists after shutdowns and restarts. This is driving me mad, as redacting is extremely common in my job.

Any ideas on how to resolve?

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described you are unable to apply the redaction on the PDF files

Would you mind sharing the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the latest version installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Are you on Mac or Windows machine and what is the version of the OS? Please try to repair installation (Win Only) from the help menu and see if that works for you.

if it still doesn't work please try to remove the application using the acrobat Cleaner tool -https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html  reboot the machine once and reinstall the application using the link - https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html

Regards

Amal

Amal, I'm using Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (Version 1909, Build 18363.1556).

My Acrobat version:

Trying 'Repair installation' doesn't seem to fix the problem, unfortunately. I'll have to get with my IT department to attempt the Cleaner and reinstallation tactics, as users do not have the required permissions.
