I am using Actobat Pro DC version 2020.009.20074

I have an action wizard which I use to encrypt multiple files with the same password.

I thought I had a wizard to remove the encryption, which I set up a few weeks ago after watching one of your recent video tutorials, but it appears to no longer work.

The Command status is now skipped.

Encrypt

Command Name: Encrypt
Command Status: Skipped

When I try to set up a new Wizard, there does not appear to be the option to Remove Encryption.  Under "Protect" there are only the following options:

  • Encrypt
  • Mark for Redaction
  • Apply Redactions
  • Search and Remove Text
  • Remove Hidden Information
  • Sanitize Document

If I chose "Encrypt" (remembering I want to remove encryption), I then need to specify the secutity Method:

  • None
  • Password Security
  • Certificate Security
  • Adobe Experience Manager

If I select "None" and run the Action, it fails with Comand Status Skipped as above.

If I selecting any of the other 3 options, they want to password protect the document.

Where am I going wrong and how can I fix this?

Many thanks,

Norma Bruce

Hi Norma,

Thank you for reaching out.

As per your description above, you had a action created to remove the encryption from the multiple files with same password. Could you please share the video tutorial link that you are referring above?

To remove the encryption from the file, please use the steps to create an action.

- Launch Acrobat and go to Tools > Action Wizard > New Action.

- In Create New Action window, select Protection > Enrypt

- In Specify settings at right, select None and save the action.

- Now open the PDF and then Action wizard

- Select the action from the list at right and click on Start.

- In the Document Security select None and close the window.

Check if that helps.

Let us know if you need any help or experience any issue.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

When you apply one or more routine commands to your files, you can save time and keystrokes by using an action—a defined series of commands with specific settings and in a specific order that you apply in a single step. You can apply an action to a single document, several documents, or a collection of documents. For more information please check the help page: https://adobe.ly/3UcW9St and see if that works for you.

If this is happening with all PDF files that you work with (not just one particular PDF), I would also add to this discussion to consider click on Help--->>" Repair Installation".
