Required Fields

I have created a PDF form with required fields that must be filled in completely upon pushing a Submit button. However when our customer does not use Internet Explorer as their Browser to access our website (where the PDF form is stored and can be retrieved) then not all fields can be accessed on form therefore the form cannot be submitted.  Is there another method that will allow multiple browsers (Chrome, Mozilla, Safari, Internet Explorer) to be used.

Just to fill in the blanks, the way it's supposed to work (and it does when using Internet Explorer) after all fields on form have been filled the user will click on the submit button an email will opens with the form now as an attachment and the sender simply adds other attachments as needed for the particular job they are doing.

So that's the desired process in a nut shell. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Stan R

I've moved this from the poorly named Community Help forum (which is the forum for issues using the forums) to theAcrobat forum so that proper help can be offered.

Each of these browsers uses a different PDF viewer. For example, Chrome uses the Chrome PDF viewer made by Google. Adobe can't influence how it works, and nor can you. Same (and different viewer) for FireFox and Edge. Some, like Safari, mess up forms so badly that you often can't use the result.

You need to persuade your users not to fill in a form, but to download and then use Acrobat Reader in Mac or Windows. You may face a challenge, especially from people on phones who own no computer.

I suggest you look at your process. Focussing on a form filling solution, especially in PDF, may be making it more complex. A web-based solution would be ideal but would need a professional specialist.

You can force users to use Acrobat Reader or Professional by using a watermark to obscure the pages on the document. Use a document level script to remove the watermark. If the vierwer doesn't have the ability to run the doc script, then it's not good enough to handle the form. Simple!!  The water mark should direct the user to use the free Acrobat Reader. It's quite likely they already have it.

There are some tricky bits in doing this. I've developed a methodology to handle all the tricky bits.

I've got a tutorial/sample here: but you have to be a member of the site to get it.(i.e. it's not free)
