Save As not opening dialogue box

Community Beginner ,
Dec 09, 2020 Dec 09, 2020

I just did a fresh install of Acrobat DC Standard for a user and he's experiencing an odd issue.  When trying to do a Save As the Save As dialogue box opens showing the typical things like recent folder and the options to reduce file size and restrict editing.  But if he clicks on a recent folder in the list or clicks on the "Choose a Different Folder..." option no dialogue box opens up to give him the option to rename and save the file.

This is on Windows 10 1809 and what is weird is that it was working previously.  I tried unchecking the box for "Show online storage when saving files" but that actually made it worse.  The normal Acrobat Save As dialogue box didn't even open at that point.

Hi Trevor

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described, the save as option is not working as expected.

Please try to reboot the computer once and see if that works for you. Also make sure that you have the latest version 20.13.20066 aof Acrobat Std DC installed. Go to Help > Check for Updates.

If it still doesn't work, please try to repair installation from the help menu (Windows Only) and reboot the computer and see if that makes any difference.

Also, please try to turn off the protected mode for testing (Windows Only) Go to Edit > Preferenced > Enhanced Security > Uncheck 'Enable protedted mode at start up', Turn off the protected mode and uncheck the Enhanced Security > Click OK and reboot the computer.
Note: Please turn on the security after testing to avoid security risks.

Let us know how it goes

Regards

Amal

Hello Amal, thank you for replying.

Acrobat updatd this morning for the user to 20.013.20074 and he was still having the issue.  I ran the installation repair and went back to disable the "Show online storage when saving files" in the Preferences again.  He was able to use the Save As function for a few files but then it stopped working again.  So I am testing turning off the security settings and will have to see if that resolves the issue.

The files he is working on are B&W multi-page scans from a MFP.  They're emailed driectly to him and they open as PDF/A in Acrobat so he clicks on the option to enable editing.  His workflow is to open the document, enable editing, then he uses the form signing feature to sign his initials and add a date on different pages, then save as to rename the document as signed.

Hi there

Thank you for sharing your observation. As mentioned it works for some time when you turn off the security. If the user is on a company network, please check the system security settings and group policy at your end.

Also, you may try to create a new test user profile on users machine and try using the application there and check.

Regards

Amal
