Save file delayed in Acrobat

Explorer ,
Oct 18, 2023 Oct 18, 2023

On a different post I noted that in Macs you can save a file by duplicating it quickly after a crash or unexpected closing of the file within Acrobat. Acrobat has a save delay. I just hit command-s to save the file. If I go to the file's folder and look at the file in preview it's still in the state when it was last saved. I usually click in a separate part of a document to force the save. And see the animation showing it's being saved.  Save is delayed in Acrobat, when using command-s unlike most programs it doesn't mean you've saved the document. Closing the program also forces the save.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the delay.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.08.20533 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://adobe.ly/3UXB3s7 and see if that works.

Let us know how it goes.

This happens on several versions for me. Only details I have is I'm on a Mac but it's happening on different OS versions. My ram is 64gb so it can't be ram. Running SSD. Since Acrobat crashes a lot or reverting files can be impossible, I usually save as I go by duplicating the main file in the background. Even if I command s while Acrobat still has the file open it fails to update the file in finder to duplicate it as I keep working further keeping the file open. If I merge several pdf files in the background with preview or even in Acrobat it might use the older version of the file . So I must save and close the file to get a complete save. I work with the files open cause they require a lot of proof reading. If I hit save command s , the cache should immediately upload, a crash will lose work sometimes. I'll keep an eye out later today I'm writing Court documents I'll set side notes but I've experienced this on versions to date for years.
