Scan shows inverted colors

I scanned a black & white text document today and the colors were inverted. The white paper was black and the black text was white. I've scanned lots of things before and this hasn't happened. I don't know if it's related, but I think it's the first scan I've made since upgrading to Sonoma. I'm using Acrobat 2023.008.20470.

I also tried scanning it with Image Capture and the colors are as they should be. (My printer/scanner is old and they stopped updating drivers about 10 years ago.)

Unfortunately, that didn't help. Today I scanned another document. It was four pages long, and the first page was inverted, while pages 2-4 were correct.

This is just a guess, but try saving the pdf as PDF/X-1a, File> Save-as-other> PDF/X> Settings> PDF/X-1a

If you have Photoshop you can use Image> Adjustments> Invert.

I've been having this problem too. I was wondering if it was my scanner, but this is NOT a problem when I use the macOS Image Capture program.

Hi @Amal.

Could the Acrobat product team please look into this? I've been experiencing the same issue as @Stu Janis since upgrading to macOS Sonoma. I've attached a screenshot of my system details. Thank you.

For me, I think the problem is that my printer/scanner is too old. The driver hasn't been updated since OS X. I've found two workarounds:

1. Since it's usually only the first page that has this problem, scan a blank sheet first and make the document you want the second sheet. This works from the document feed; not sure if it works from the flatbed.

2. Use the ImageCapture app that you mentioned in a previous comment.

Same issue with me as well, first page s always with inverted colors. Fixed by scanning first page twice and deleting first one. Very annoying.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 24.01.20604 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Hi there

I am sorry to hear that the issue still exists, Would you mind collecting Acromon logs and sharing them manually as described in the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-diagnostics.html to narrow down the investigation.

I have been trying to collect these, but everytime I start this collector app, scanning works without inverting colors... Just finished scanning onepager, needed to scan page twice in order to get it right.

Hi there

Please update the application to the new version 24.02.20736 from the help menu > check for updates and reboot the computer once and see if that works.

If it still doesn't work we would need the fresh logs to futher investigate.

This is happening to me on my new Mac Studio (Apple M2 Ultra / macOS Sonoma Version 14.5 / Adobe Acrobat Pro Version 2024.002.20857).  First page is inverse & rest of document is regular.

I have a new Fujitsu fi-8170 scanner.  It is not an issue when I use Apple's scanning app or several other scanning apps (e.g. ExactScan Pro, Vuescan).

This only happens when using Adobe Acrobat to scan documents using the "Text" setting.  It is not an issue when I change it to "Black & White."

I have attached a sample scan showing the problem.

Would you mind collecting Acromon logs and sharing them manually as described in the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-diagnostics.html  so that we can get it checked with the engineering team for the fix.
