Search by index is not working

I have a very large PDF file (900 pages) which I need to search.

I've added an embedded index to it.  But when I use Advanced Search, I can see that Acrobat is searching page by page.  It still takes the same length of time to search as it did without an index.

I've read in a couple of places that Adobe has turned off indexed searching by default, and that you have to edit your Windows registry to fix this.  Which I'm thinking can't be the case, since the official Acrobat docs still talk about indexed searching.

How do I fix this?

Hi,

In  the advanced search window near the bottom, there is a "Show more Options" link, if you click that then

A new drop down appears at the top of the search window with the label "Look in" .

One of the options is "select index", I don't know if that would solve your problem.
