Search Results Not Highlighting Individually

When performing a search/find on a pdf, my results are not highlighting individually.  Instead, I am getting a large blue square that encompasses my search result(s) as well as a lot of other text that has nothing to do with my search .

This is usually the result of an incorrect page structure, probably created when the file was OCRed.

Are you able to select the text in question using the text selection tool in Acrobat?
