Secure document problem

I go paperless with my credit card company. My statements are in PDF format. I normally 'edit' these PDF's by highlighting charges according to personal vs work expenses as well as embedding my bank confirmation information onced paid. The system works but now I have had three monthly statements that are (SECURED) and require a password. I have spoken to my credit card provider three times now and they insist they do not password protect their PDF's. They claim the issue is with my software but I have downloaded the statements directly from my account (as opposed to opening the same document) on different computers running Adobe Acrobat Pro. How can I solve this issue? They say there is no process for me to speak directly with their IT department to find a solution. Thanks for your time and any assistance you may have.

I think I have found a work around for my issue. I exported the PDF to Word, then created a PDF of that document. The resulting PDF allows me to edit as I had done in the past. Just a bothersome prosess, over just opening the document and going straight to editing. Oh well...

They do password-protect it, even if they don't know about it. And they won't give you the password, either.

The reason is exactly to prevent you (and others) from editing these files, so people can't show fraudulent bank statements. Of course, there are always ways around it, but we won't discuss them here. Only a digitally-signed file can be considered a true original. Anything else is easily faked.
