When i am trying to preview a pdf document in file explorer, it now says "the file you are attempting to preview could harm your computer, if you trust the file and the source you received it from, open it to view its contents". When i go to the document properties, under General/Security, there is a check box at the bottom to "unblock" the document. Is there a way to remove this security feature so i dont have to do this? I have been using adobe pro for years, and this is new, never happened to me before. Thanks in advance!

Hi @stacey_kis,
Thanks for reaching out! The message you’re seeing is a standard Windows security prompt rather than an Acrobat error. It appears when a file is downloaded or shared from the internet or email. Windows marks it as “potentially unsafe” until you confirm it’s from a trusted source.
If you trust the sender or know the file is safe, you can remove the warning by:
1. Right-clicking the PDF in File Explorer.
2. Selecting Properties.
3. Checking the box Unblock at the bottom, then clicking Apply and OK.
After that, reopen the file in Acrobat, and the message should no longer appear.
Hope this helps clarify the situation! Let us know if you continue to see the prompt even after unblocking the file.
Best regards,

thank you. Yes I have been doing that. Do you know if there is a setting that I wont have to do that for every single PDF document that i want to preview? It is becoming overwhelming and time consuming. Appreciate it!

I am having same issue as Stacy, individual pdf fixing is fine but as this has not happened to me in the last 10 years and I self scan hundreds of documents a year a fix is required so issue does not help in the first place
I am loathe to need looking at alternative to adobe so hope fix is close

Hello,
I'm having the same issue, is there a way of unblocking permanently. I scan 100 times a day, this is very time consuming
