Serialization error: "Offline exception grant process failed."

Hi,

 

I am trying to serialize Acrobat Pro 2020 so that our users will not have to sign in when they run it.

 

I downloaded the customization wizard from https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Wizard/index.html - CustWiz2000920067_en_US_DC.exe - and installed it. (there were no previous versions on this pc)

 

I then ran "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Customization Wizard DC\CustWiz.exe",

did File / Open package,

and pointed it to the files that were unzipped from Acrobat_2020_Web_WWMUI.zip:

specifically, \Acrobat_2020_Web_WWMUI\Adobe Acrobat\AcroPro.msi

 

Under Personalization options, I entered the serial number, and clicked "Grant Offline Exception & Disable Registration"

 

I then got an error message box:

Offline exception grant process failed. Please refer to oobelib.log in %temp% folder and wizard help for more details

 

I've done this procedure before with Acrobat 2017. What is the problem with 2020 and what can be done about it?

 

Can a 2020 serial be used with 2017? What is the 2017 end of support date?

it's not a volume license. neither has it expired, we just purchased it.

If the 2017 version was in the same computer where you're trying to serialize the 2020 version, you may need to fully uninstall the 2017 version completely.

 

Be sure to run the .msi that originally was used to install the 2017 version; only the corresponding .msi package for a particular version knows how to uninstall itself... not with other uninstaller or via the operating system's.

 

Is unclear if what you're trying to do involves an upgrade from 2017,  or a fresh clean installation of 2020. 

 

Can you clarify this?

 

And have you checked with Adobe Customer Care about the type of  licensing?

Hi,

 

Offline exception workflow is only applicable for Volume serial numbers. As per the logs, you have a retail serial number hence the failure. 

To activate Acrobat, please provide the serial key when prompted during installation. Post installation launch Acrobat and sign in with an Adobe ID to activate your serial key.
