Signature blocks are now acting like text boxes

Hello Community,

I desperately need your help. Acrobat Pro DC updated yesterday and now today I have two issues:

First, I cannot remove my own digital id signatures from documents I created where I previously could.

  • I would have to validate the ID first and then I could right click and remove. This is no longer possible.
  • I cannot figure out how to change the document restrictions to allow changes to the document since the update.

Second: so now that I cannot edit my previously existing forms I started creating new ones. I added both a signature field and a signature block but they are both acting like a text box instead of a signature. I can type my name in but it previously used to ask for my digital id password. It is very odd.

Thank you for any assistance!

If you really did add a signature block, you were in the form editing mode for creating an Adobe Sign compatible form. You cannot add digital signature fields in this mode. the "signature" fields are actually text fields that have specialized behavior when use with Adobe Sign. If you want to use digital signatures, you can select "More > Revert to Acrobat Form" when in form editing mode.

I'm having this same issue. Where is this "More" option? I see "More Tools" but don't see the "Revert to Acrobat Form" from there so you must be referring to something else.

Edit: The "More" button is next to a tool icon under the align, match size, etc.

how about a little help in lieu of snarky response with help instructions that are inconsistent with the software that we all have.

If you want to have a regular classic signature, when intially saving the pdf, DO NOT select, this document has signatures. It will essentially break the signature field and require you to use Adobe Sign

THIS. So if you want to put a signature, select that you don't want a signature. Just another FU from Adobe to anyone who might be trying to figure this crap out.

Does this mean I would have to recreate the form from scatch again? Is there no way of reverting that selection?

I was able to open the original PDF (before form fields were added) as a new document. Go back to your fillable PDF and delete the signature fields. Then select all and copy all fields to the new document. Since the new document was opened without selecting "this document has signatures," I was able to add signature fields to the new doc that appear correctly.
