So I'm creating some forms in Acrobat, and I'm trying to add TextFields to it using the Prepare Form too, most of which should be single-line TextFields. Here's an example of one and the options I've chosen
As you can see, Multiline is deselected as is Scroll Long Text, etc. So the assumption is this would constrain this field to a single line. However, when I save and the open the PDF in Preview and edit it, I am able to add multiple lines by hitting Enter
This also has the unfortunate effect of defaulting the text alignment to the top, so when a single line is entered, it's ends up breaking the intended layout
Is there no way to force a TextField to be an actual single line, so that line breaks are not accepted? This seems to be a strange inconsistency with the provided options

Fill the form with Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat.
Don't use Apple Preview.

Preview is a terrible application, known to be very buggy and to corrupt PDF files (especially form fields) just by opening them. Issues with it should be reported to Apple.

Okay I guess that makes sense, it's just the default viewer for PDFs, and since these will be filled out by all sorts of people, I would imagine many of them would end up using the same. I guess I will post this on Apple support forums. Will leave this discussion up though so if anyone else sees this they know who to look at lol

Preview is also known as "the PDF killer".
