Hi,
There seems to be a problem some users experience upgrading to Acrobat 11.0.04 on Mac Book Pro's that support Retina Display.
In certain cases, Acrobat still runs in low definition and the setting "Open in Low Resolution" is checked and grayed-out (can't be changed).
One cause we've identified is a preference file that is not updated in certain cases and prevents the system from letting Acrobat running in Retina Display mode.
To fix it you can try this:
One of the knwon workflows is upgrading from a previous version of Acrobat that had been installed before a system upgrade, or from an old version of Acrobat such as 9 that is not supported on Mac OS 10.8.
Please share your experience here and let us know if doesn't solve your issue. We'll contact you case by case if needed, to make sure you can have Acrobat run in high definition.
Thanks,
Luc

Sound like you need to re-install all the products, do you remove all files or just Acrobat files? I should warn you first, sorry. Can you install Acrobat now?

Exit Acrobat, Select Acrobat app, and check File/Get Info, "Open in Low Resolution" is grayed out or enable?
I assume your machine is HiDPI Retina machine right?
1. Check the follwoing setting in info.plist:
/Applications/Adobe Acrobat XI Pro/Adobe Acrobat Pro.app/Contents/Info.plist
<key>NSHighResolutionCapable</key>
<true/>
if not set to true, change to true.
2. open terminal window and type the following
touch /Applications/Adobe\ Acrobat\ XI\ Pro/Adobe\ Acrobat\ Pro.app/
3. Check "open in Low Resolution" setting again.
4. It should be turned on and uncheck

This error message for Acrobat product or other product?
if this error message For Acrobat, I believe if you uninstall Acrobat, install Acrobat again and upgrade to 11.0.4. The problem should go away.
For other products then I don't have enought information for you. You need to call Adobe techical Support.

Hi Steven,
I'm having the same problem with the damaged application error message and I did what you suggest above: uninstall, reinstall, update to 11.0.04 again. Got the error message twice. The app opens and displays docs well on my MBP Retina, except for the inital dialog "open files" box which is still blurry. I won't know if everything is working within the app as it should until it doesn't (I can't possibly test the app completely myself) so I'll just be a little uneasy until I can install without getting an error message.
Here's my configuration in case you have any further suggestions:
MBP Retina 2.6 Ghz i7, OSX 10.9.1...

Im having trouble updating to 11.0.4 - my app says 11.0.0 but Creative Cloud is not allowing me to update.
Ive tried deleting the items discussed in this thread but maybe not in the right order? Its making my head spin. When reinstalling, why wouldnt it reinstall the latest version?

OK, I figured it out.
The KEYS for me:
1. see jay_harlow comment above: "uninstall via Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers" <- Make sure box saying "Include preferences" is checked.
2. once 11.0.0 is installed, MUST go to Help> Check for Updates... and update to 11.0.04 fom there.
Wow, that took way too long to troubleshoot. And the CC interface is so screwy.
Finally, my PDFs on the Retina MBP are sharp, though.

CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!
I haven't seen in this thread where one of the Adobe STAFF but it was Vav10's post here that got me fixed.
Download what you get from Creative Cloud then Check for Upates under Help in Acrobat to get to 11.0.06
Curious that this update is not seen and applied via the CC menu bar updater?!
All these attempts of the info.plist and terminal failed on the current version you get from Creative Cloud. They may have worked back in December but not here in March 2014.
It was a time killer unistalling and reinstalling (there are two uninstallers btw.)
The one in the Acrobat folder doesn't do you any good for making CC forget the app, you have to use the one in the Utilities folder > Adobe Installers > Adobe Acrobat XI Pro (It doesn't refer to uninstall until you launch that alias there.
Hope this helps someone! Would like for Adobe STAFF to comment as lets face it, some people only scroll to read the white blocks as if they are the holy word on the matter....don't forget to read what the gray folks are saying!!
OH and Adobe, please fix the scroll lag issue now with Retina on. Scroll a full webpage design in a pdf is ARDUOUS!

Glad to help. Can not emphasize how frustrated I was that evening. And trolling these boards is just as frustrating. Too much trouble to make users go to to get something to work right the first time. And, I had to make a new screen name to reply to this post? Something's wrong, Adobe.

January 2015 Update: I was able to simply check for updates from within Acrobat without uninstalling and it showed the update I needed (that didn't show up in the CC interface for some reason). BTW, for those who still need to uninstall Acrobat first, the most recent CC interface (at least for the Mac) includes the Uninstall option for each application.

I was able to get the Adobe Acrobat to work, but what about FormsCentral for Acrobat? The "open in low res" in checked and greyed out, so I can't uncheck it. Do you have any solutions for that? Thank you.

Yes, Acrobat XI Pro works fine in high resolution. My issue is with the FormsCentral for Acrobat. It's in the same folder as Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Yes, FormsCentral apps is same folder as Acrobat apps. But we don't support HIDPI for FormCentral yet.
I have forwarded your question to FormCentral developer manager.

Unfortunately this doesn't work on Adobe Acrobat X Pro (v. 10.1.8). I've added the plist key to Info.plist, which allows me to uncheck "Open in Low resolution" in the Get Info pane on Acrobat, but rendering is as pixelated and slow as ever.
Will the retina update be backported to Acrobat X?

HiDPI only supports in Acrobat 11.0.4 not Acrobat 10.1.8. Please upgrade your Acrobat to 11.0.4.
thanks.

Unfortunately, I'm a bit skint at the moment and upgrading isn't exactly cheap.. I was considering upgrading to CS6 when I have some cash in, but that still only offers Acrobat X (ie. v10) and the suite itself appears to already be out of date, cf. Creative Cloud.
