Why must the AI settings be enabled every time Adobe Acrobat updates? Acrobat doesn't need the dumb AI features to slow it down, it does a good enough job at being slow as it is. Now when I open Acrobat, it wants to show off all the assenine features no one asked for and get in the way of the work I'm trying to do. The least Adobe could do is make Acrobat free with the amount of data they are gleeming from us users. I ask again why must the AI settings be enabled every time Adobe Acrobat updates? To the Brain Dead Devs, grow a spine and just stop this behavior. Let users select what features they want to have on or off and stop messing with it on updates. People already hate you all and this type of activity just makes us want to take action.

Hi there,
Hope you are doing well and thanks for sharing your feedback—we understand how annoying this must be.
When Acrobat updates, some settings (like AI features) may turn back on. This happens because updates reset parts of the app to keep it stable and secure. But we know it can be frustrating if your choices don’t stay the way you set them.
You can turn off the AI features again by going to Preferences (ctrl, cmd+K) > Gen AI > Uncheck 'Enable generative AI', and Acrobat will work fine without them until the next update.
You may also share your feedback directly with the development here https://adobe.ly/47HANDT for their consideration and future implementation.

Hi Amal,
If you understand how annoying the AI tool is, why is it forced on the application users? If you understand these changes can be frustrating, why are they being changed in updates without the user input? Use your position as an Adobe employee to listen to feedback and empliment it. If the user has something turned off, it should not be changed in an update.

Amal,
Adobe should discontinue this malware-like activity, as it actively disrespects your users and creates security risk.
I turn off ALL AI on Acrobat and other apps because I deem it unsafe (and I don't need it). I choose not to upload client documents to Adobe Cloud because I believe it unnecessary and creates additional risk. How I use the product -- and what portions of it I do not use because of risk -- is my decision to make. Yet Adobe chooses to turn on "Generative AI" -- meaning uploading my content to its servers, somewhere -- even when I have decided against that.
Then Adobe uses vague excuses like "to keep [Acrobat] stable and secure" to turn Generative AI back on against the express wishes of its users (you know, the people and businesses that pay you for this product). Really? Does Adobe seriously contend that it must override the user's choice to permit (force?) Acrobat to upload client content -- a choice that Adobe plainly concedes the user can safely make (because you just said we could and that option exists in the Preferences)? Surely not.
Sincerely,

Adobe could at least show a notification to the user to advise them that some of their preferences/settings have been reset when this happens. Making preference changes without advising the user is a deceptive practice and I imagine could create potential liability concerns for the company.

Hi Amal, the first few hundred posts on the developers forum are asking for AI to be removed. Whoever is reading those posts, either doesn't care, or doesn't have the power to change anything. Which basically makes the forum completely useless. I guess selling our data makes Adobe more money than it costs in losing subscriptions. I am sick to death of AI slowing down my PC, and the way you say "it is to help the PC be stable and secure" I mean come on, don't bull**** us. Don't treat us like we are idiots. Everyone here knows why Adobe does it, and we are fed up. Does anyone here have any recommendations for alternative companies that actually look after their customers?

I have to turn off the AI features every time I login. EVERY TIME. Does adobe update every day? Going to back to the original poster's complaint that it slows adobe down is completely true, while I wait for all the AI features to load EVERY TIME I login, which I must do everytime after closing adobe.

Can you add a registry key? If possible, try the following:
Add the below registry key on your machines.
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockDown
create new D Word key: bEnableGentech
value: 0
Setting the value to 1 will enable generative AI features.
Get ready! An upgraded Adobe Community experience is coming in January.
