A week ago I was able to use my stylus pen for writing on the pdf with the pencil tool while the hand button was selected. This allowed me to write with my stylus and pan the pdf with my finger. However, now my stylus simply resorts to performing whatever command is selected, resulting in the need to constantly switch back and forth between the hand and pencil tool. Very irritating and a waste of my time. I vaguely recall there being a check box in properties menu to toggle this but I can't seem to find it. Am I missing it or has the function been removed. If it has been removed then Acrobat will no longer be useful to me and I will immediately cancel my subscription.
On a related note to Acrobat forum moderators, I am sick and tired of "updates" changing the default preferences and functionality of software I pay for. Pass the word along to your engineering team. This is the last straw for me, I won't be spending anymore of my time trying to relearn aspects of the program just to do what I could already do the week before.

The checkbox I am referring to above is "auto detect pen hardware to enable markup" It was in preferences/commenting/making comments. Now it's gone...

Could you please let us know more info like machine/OS details if you still face the issue. Please make sure you are checking this preference on a touch device. We cannot reproduce the issue at our end.
The checkbox "auto detect pen hardware to enable markup" is available under preferences/commenting/making comments on touch devices for us.
Regards,
Arvind

As much as the forum moderators would like to have a direct line of communication with the engineering team, we do not. You can post your comments and complaints to the engineering team on the Acrobat User Voice page: Share your feedback on Acrobat DC.
As far as your frustration regarding things updating automatically many users (myself included) have reverted back to using an old version of the software. For mac users, I explain how to do that here: How to Get the Old Version of Acrobat back
