Sync Adobe Document Cloud to Desktop Computer

Explorer ,
Sep 19, 2017 Sep 19, 2017

Hey there,

I guess I am a little confused about the difference between my Adobe Creative Cloud Files and my Adobe Acrobat "Document Cloud" files.

I have synced the Creative Cloud files to my mac computer and have a folder in my Finder for them. However, I am unable to figure out how to do this with the Acrobat "Document Cloud" files if at all possible. Is it possible to sync these to desktop for ease of access and usability?

Are they two totally separate file systems? (why?) I would like to be able to access all of my files in one place, any hack for this?

Thanks for your helpful reply Tariq.

Is there a way to submit this as a feature suggestion for future rollout? For example, it would be really convenient if the Acrobat Document Cloud was an automatically synced folder inside of my Creative Cloud Files that are synced to my desktop!

Yes, you may choose this link to file a feature request: Adobe Acrobat Reader - Feature Request/Bug Report Form Click on "Feature Request" button. From the "Bug Area" Dropdown choose Document Cloud Services.

Would make also totally more sense to users, besides just Adobe.

Obviously they are two different propositions from Adobe, since their whole Documents and Creative are two different platforms with different market segments I should say. The former serves the enterprise office segment, while the latter serves the creative professionals. In the end we get an ambiguous UX, as users, who have both options available to them.

It's not easy to make coherent product service systems and especially in a large company with many divisions such as Adobe.

In my case, I also want my files to flow through my local file system, so it's a pity I won't be using much the Document Coud, even it it has all the great publishing tools.

Having a Second Cloud Sync Application would work fine for that too. But you cant have the Adobe DC files on a PC, which is really a pain.

This is a rather poor explanation. Go to faq? Seriously? What is the reason for not having this feature?

I too am really surprised to learn this. I thought it was just that I had not set it up properly or that I hadn't located the synced folder on my Windows machine. To now learn there is no file sync is a big disappointment. The justification for paying for my adobe acrobat dc subscription just got a lot weaker.

Sooo true, sadly. Adobe really takes a lot of money for not taking their custumers for serious.

Adobe cloud document management is a royal mess, files seems to show up - or not - in places you dont expect for reasons you dont understand, and you never really know where they really are because they have tried to streamline everything.

Plus, it lacks THE core feature you actually need: sync to desktop, which tells you everything you need to know about how much of a derp this is. Instead they have added complications (features) to the workflow making this really hard to use.

Adobe: scrap current fancy cloud management system, and just make it sync to desktop. Period. Don't complicate it.

Entirely agreed. I've now ran into the issue of have storage that is unavailable (because it's in use), but I have NO way of finding out what those items are, where they are, or how large they are. I even contacted support and the only true solution was to ask a "specialist" team to reset my entire cloud storage, erasing everything.  I was fine with that as I have local copies of everything I need but is that really the only solution? Not even their own support can break down this complicated disaster of a "Cloud Service"

Hi,

I agree that this is a very very basic feature that would make the Document Cloud usable.

I have spent over 15 hours with Adobe technicians in my pretty powerful and not super old Lenovo Thinkpad, while they remotely root around trying to solve the fact that the email from PDF feature doesn't work, it still doesn't, incase you were wondering. A work around would be to easily save the pdfs to the document cloud and then manually email from there.....but sadly that is also not a smooth option due to the Adobe Documents folder not being accessible from the desktop list. I was so excited to finally treat myself to the Adobe suite, but I have to say, it has absolutely not lived up to expectations and is no better than the free version. The only reason I am keeping the subscription, for now, is that I have some artwork to design. I feel like Adobe have geared up for big companies and have left little ones behind, who do not have hoards of tech support to untangle the mess they have made in their own software.

Easiest solution that I have found so far:

  1. When you go to save a PDF there is an option for "Add Account".
  2. Add in Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, Box, or one of the others that they list.
  3. Save your document to an actually functional cloud directory syncing service.
  4. On your other machine go to the folder for the actually functional cloud directory syncing service.
  5. Open your files the way god intended, instead of trying to use the POS Adobe Document Cloud.

Best advice so far!

Really like the "actually functional cloud directory syncing service" reference. Having a synced folder on your PC/Mac is such a basic feature for any cloud service, it is amazing that Adobe hasn't managed to implement it by Q3-2021.

Guess I will keep using Office Lens for my .pdf scanning needs.

Having two options is extremely confusing. I am spending more time trying to figure out how to save files which can be accessed through all my devices, and also be able to collaborate with the author I am working. In cloud documents, I am able to "invite to edit," but only for individual files, not for entire folders. Meanwhile, the synced document folder doesn't show up in my local files. It's frustrating, and a major pain point for users.

I totally agree with you. I thought it was just me not getting it. I have spent more time trying to figure out cloud documents vs Adobe Creative Cloud files in my taskbar. Major pain!
