Taking out lines from a fillable form

I created a fillable form from a Word document. The Word document contained lines for people to write in their answers. I would like to remove those lines now, but when I use Acrobat's editing features to erase the lines, the contents of the document shift. I want everything to stay in place. Is it possible to remove the lines without having the contents shift?

Unfortunately, it's just a workaround.
Acrobat Pro should reach the level of competition and allow to edit texts without screwing things up.
